Welland accountants and remote tax filing

Tax Accountant in Welland: File Your Taxes Online

Welland clients can file with us online: you send your slips, we prepare the return, you review and approve it, and we e-file it with the CRA, with no office visit. We do not have an office in Welland; you can meet us at our Guelph Branch on Edinburgh Road South in Guelph if you prefer. The City of Welland bills property tax in four instalments, licenses short-term rentals and licenses the businesses listed in its Business Licensing By-law, so this page sets out the points that matter to owners.

Welland Property Tax, Short-Term Rental Licence and Business Licences

What to know, from the official pages named on each card. We last checked them on October 30, 2026.

Welland property tax: four instalments, the last one in August

The City's 2026 instalments were due on February 27, April 30, June 30 and August 31. Interim bills are usually mailed in the first week of February and final bills in the first week of June, at least 21 days before the first instalment due date. Overdue taxes are subject to a 1.25% penalty on the first day of default, and an additional 1.25% interest is added on the first day of each month until they are paid in full. Pre-authorized plans take payments either on the instalment due dates, as Option 1, or in 11 monthly instalments, as Option 2.

Short-term rentals in Welland: owner licence, three guest bedrooms at most

The City defines a short-term rental as a dwelling unit rented for 28 consecutive days or less, and the definition excludes bed and breakfasts, hotels and motels, and boarding or lodging houses. Only the owner of the property can apply for a licence, and where a short-term rental is the main use of an accessory dwelling unit the operator must live on the premises. A short-term rental may not contain more than three guest bedrooms. Licences must be renewed yearly and expire on December 31 of that calendar year, and an officer can suspend or revoke a licence. Rental income also belongs on your tax return, and we can help you report it.

Business licences in Welland: ten kinds under By-law 2011-173

Welland's Business Licensing By-law 2011-173 covers retail sale of fireworks, food premises, food vehicles, hawkers and peddlers, outdoor entertainment events, pawnbrokers, personal service establishments such as aesthetics, nail salons and barbers and hairstyling shops, public garages for automotive rental, sales and service, donation collection bins, and pet shops. Licensed businesses are inspected when they first apply and again at renewal. You apply through the City's online portal, and the City points to BizPaL for a full list of the municipal, provincial and federal permits a business needs. We can help you work out what applies and keep your books.
