Tax Accountant in Stouffville: File Your Taxes Online

Stouffville clients can file with us online: you send your slips, we prepare the return, you review and approve it, and we e-file it with the CRA, with no office visit. We do not have an office in Stouffville; the closest is our Eglinton Branch on Eglinton Avenue East in Scarborough, if you want to meet in person. The Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville licenses short-term rentals, requires second suites to be registered after a permit and mails property tax bills twice a year, so this page sets out the points that matter to owners.

What to know, from the official pages named on each card. We last checked them on October 29, 2026.

Stouffville property tax: two interim and two final instalments

The Town mailed its 2026 interim bill on January 23, with instalments due February 20 and April 17, and its final bill on June 9, with instalments due July 17 and September 18. The dates apply to residential, farm, commercial and industrial properties, and they change each year, so follow your bill. The Town's Paying Your Property Taxes page covers its pre-authorized payment plans and the ways to pay. If you own a rental property, the rent also belongs on your income tax return, and we can help you report it.

Short-term rentals in Stouffville must be licensed every year

Every owner operating a short-term rental in Stouffville must licence it with the Town, and licences are renewed annually. The Town defines a short-term rental as a dwelling unit, or part of one, used for temporary overnight accommodation for no more than 28 consecutive days, which excludes hotels, motels, retirement homes and garden suites. Council approved a new short-term rental by-law on August 12, 2026, replacing the former one. A licensed listing states a maximum of 3 to 10 occupants, the home must meet the Ontario Building Code and Fire Code at all times, and the licence number must be displayed in the rental and in all advertising.

Second suites in Stouffville need a permit, then registration

You need a permit to add a second suite within an existing house in Stouffville, and once the permit is approved you must register the suite with the Town using the Secondary Suite Registration Application. The Town's building permits section has the permit steps and links to its building inspections page. If you rent the suite, the income belongs on your tax return, and we can help you report it. We can also help you with the books, GST/HST and payroll of a small business that operates from the same property.
