Scugog clients, from Port Perry to Blackstock and Seagrave, can file their taxes with us online: you send your slips, we prepare the return, you review and approve it, and we e-file it with the CRA, with no office visit. We do not have an office in Scugog; the closest is our Eglinton Branch on Eglinton Avenue East in Scarborough, if you would like to meet in person. Scugog Property Tax, Additional Dwelling Unit Registration and Business Licences

What to know, from the official pages named on each card. We last checked them on October 29, 2026.

Scugog property tax: penalties and interest that cannot be waived

The Township's page gives June 23 and September 23, 2026 as the final instalment dates. Penalty and interest of 1.25% are added to instalments not paid by the due date, they are applied on the first business day of each month, and council and staff cannot waive or alter them for any reason. The Township collects tax for the Region of Durham, the school boards and itself. Owners can join a pre-authorized payment plan online, and a supplemental bill is issued for additions or improvements to a property. Follow the dates on your bill.

Additional dwelling units in Scugog: a new registration by-law

Council approved an Additional Dwelling Unit Registration By-law and procedure on June 22, 2026. It requires owners to register an additional dwelling unit before it is occupied and to show that it meets the zoning, building and fire rules. The Township's guide describes three types, internal, attached and detached, and four steps: check that a unit is permitted, confirm zoning, prepare the project and apply for a building permit. The registration fee is waived for a six-month grace period. If you rent the unit, the income belongs on your tax return, and we can help you report it.

Business licences in Scugog, from kennels to taxis

The Township lists film permits, hawker and pedlar licences, kennel licences, refreshment vehicle licences, salvage and second-hand goods licences, adult entertainment parlours, fireworks sales and taxis. Every non-government kennel needs a business licence under Kennel By-law 86-08 and must also follow the Zoning By-law, and you apply through the Township's CloudPermit account, or on paper at the Township Office. We can help you work out what applies to your business and keep its books.
