Clarington accountants and remote tax filing

Tax Accountant in Clarington: File Your Taxes Online

Clarington clients, from Bowmanville to Courtice, Newcastle and Orono, can file with us online: you send your slips, we prepare the return, you review and approve it, and we e-file it with the CRA, with no office visit. We do not have an office in Clarington; the closest is our Eglinton Branch on Eglinton Avenue East in Scarborough, if you want to meet in person. The Municipality of Clarington bills property tax together with Durham Region and the Province, treats a registered additional dwelling unit as part of the building permit process, and issues a short list of permits and licences, so this page sets out the points that matter to owners.

Clarington Property Tax, Additional Dwelling Units and Business Permits

What to know, from the official pages named on each card. We last checked them on October 29, 2026.

Clarington property tax: two interim and two final instalments

Clarington's 2026 instalments were due February 19, April 23, June 18 and September 17, and every property class shares the same dates. The tax rate has three parts: the Municipality, the Regional Municipality of Durham and the education rate set by the Province. Owners on the monthly pre-authorized plan receive only a final bill each year, which states their December 1 withdrawal amount, and owners whose mortgage company pays for them also receive only a final bill. A payment arrangement is available for outstanding taxes through an application form, and penalty and interest apply to late payments even after a change of ownership. Follow the dates on your bill.

Additional dwelling units in Clarington are registered through the building permit

Clarington treats an additional dwelling unit as registered with the Municipality once the Building Inspector grants occupancy after the building permit process, with no separate registration step. Up to two units are allowed per property, but provincial rules limit some lands: one unit on some Oak Ridges Moraine and Greenbelt lands, and none on natural core, natural linkage, floodplain and environmental protection lands. Two units are possible in Courtice, Bowmanville, Newcastle, Orono and the hamlets outside the Moraine. A unit established before July 14, 1994 needs an inspection for Ontario Fire Code compliance. Rental income from a unit belongs on your income tax return, and we can help you report it.

Permits and licences for Clarington businesses and owners

The Municipality's Permits and Licences page lists fireworks permits, lottery licences, plumbing and drain layer licences, private entrance permits for driveways and curb cuts, sign permits and vehicles for hire. Its offices are at 40 Temperance Street in Bowmanville. Before you open, renovate or sign a lease, check with the Municipality which of these apply to your business. We can help you work out what applies to you and keep your books, GST/HST and payroll in order.
