Tax Accountant in Oakville: File Your Taxes Online

Oakville clients can file their taxes with us online: you send your slips, we prepare the return, you review and approve it, and we e-file it with the CRA, with no office visit. We do not have an office in Oakville; you can meet us at our Head Office on Danforth Avenue in Toronto if you prefer. The Town of Oakville licenses most businesses and every short-term rental, and a new business licensing by-law starts in January 2027, so this page sets out what to know.

Oakville Property Tax, Short-Term Rental Licence and Business Licences

What to know, from the official pages named on each card. We last checked them on October 29, 2026.

Oakville property tax: two interim and two final instalments

Oakville issues interim bills at the end of January and final bills in mid-May. In 2026 the interim instalments were due February 25 and April 27, and the final ones June 25 and September 25. The Town's pre-authorized plans let you pay in four, nine or 12 monthly instalments. Interest is charged at 1.25% per month, which the Town describes as 15% a year, and it is applied on the first day of each month of default. The dates change each year, so follow your bill.

Short-term rentals in Oakville need a Town licence

All short-term accommodations in Oakville require a licence, and the host must be the principal resident. The Town issues an operator licence to the person responsible for running the rental and a company licence to online platforms that advertise rentals for operators. The Town describes short-term rentals as stays of less than 29 days, and you must post your licence number on all advertisements. Rental income also belongs on your income tax return, and we can help you report it.

Business licences in Oakville and the new by-law from January 4, 2027

Most businesses in Oakville need a business licence, across dozens of licence types that include animal-related businesses, food and refreshment vehicles, taxis and limousines, landscaping, and tobacco and vape retailers. New and renewal applications are made online, and the Town says it may take up to 10 business days to receive your licence. A new licensing by-law, 2026-012, takes effect on January 4, 2027; until then by-law 2015-075 applies, and licences issued for 2026 stay valid until their 2027 expiry date. We can help you work out what applies to your business.
