North York streets with their own Business Improvement Areas

Toronto has the largest number of Business Improvement Areas (BIAs) of any urban centre in the world, representing 45,000 members, according to the City. In North York they include the Yonge North York BIA, along Yonge Street from north of Highway 401 to just north of Finch Avenue, and the Upper Avenue BIA, on Avenue Road between Lawrence Avenue West and Joicey Boulevard. The City's BIA list shows where each one runs. If your shop or office is on one of these streets, we can keep your books and taxes in order.

Property tax relief for low-income seniors and people with disabilities

The City of Toronto runs property tax, water and solid waste relief programs for low-income seniors and low-income people living with disabilities: a tax increase cancellation program, a tax increase deferral program, a water rebate and a solid waste rebate. You must reapply every year by the City's deadline, and the application asks for an unaltered copy of your CRA Notice of Assessment or Reassessment, so filing your return on time matters. The home must be your principal residence, owned and lived in for at least a year.
