Newmarket accountants and remote tax filing

Tax Accountant in Newmarket: File Your Taxes Online

Newmarket clients can file their taxes with us online: you send your slips, we prepare the return, you review and approve it, and we e-file it with the CRA, with no office visit. We do not have an office in Newmarket; you can meet us at our Eglinton Branch on Eglinton Avenue East in Scarborough if you prefer. The Town of Newmarket licenses short-term rentals and has required second suites to be registered since 2013, so this page sets out what to know.

Prefer to meet in person? You can visit our Eglinton Branch. See our locations

Newmarket Property Tax, Short-Term Rental Licence and Second Suite Registration

What to know, from the official pages named on each card. We last checked them on October 29, 2026.

Newmarket property tax: three interim and three final instalments

Newmarket's 2026 interim bill had three instalments, due February 25, March 25 and April 27, and the final bill three more, due July 24, August 25 and September 25. The Town says its property tax is divided between the Town, York Region and the school boards. If MPAC sends a supplementary or omitted assessment notice, you receive a property tax bill in late fall. The Town offers a number of payment options, which its payment page explains. Follow the dates on your bill.

Short-term rentals in Newmarket need a licence, with firm limits

Short-term rental operators and rental platforms such as Airbnb need a Town licence under the Business Licence By-law. Only one short-term rental is allowed per lot, within one dwelling unit, and an operator may rent no more than three bedrooms or host more than six overnight guests. Only the bedrooms named on the application may be rented, and vehicles, tents and accessory buildings may not. You need one off-street parking space for each rented bedroom plus one for the permanent resident, and you must show your licence number in all your advertising. Rental income belongs on your income tax return.

Second suites in Newmarket must be registered, and get an N plate

Since 2013, homes with an additional residential unit must be registered with the Town under By-law 2013-13, as amended. You submit the application form with either the Fire Department and Electrical Safety Authority documents or a final building permit inspection report. A registered unit receives a small "N" plate for the home and a "B" in its address, and a household with an N plate may put out six garbage and recycling bags instead of three. If you rent the unit, the income belongs on your tax return, and we can help you report it.
