Aurora accountants and remote tax filing

Tax Accountant in Aurora: File Your Taxes Online

Aurora clients can file with us online: you send your slips, we prepare the return, you review and approve it, and we e-file it with the CRA, with no office visit. We do not have an office in Aurora; you can meet us at our Eglinton Branch in Scarborough if you prefer. The Town of Aurora licenses short-term rentals, requires second suites to be registered and backdates tax on new building work, so this page sets out the points that matter to owners.

Prefer to meet in person? You can visit our Eglinton Branch. See our locations

Aurora Property Tax, Short-Term Rental Licence and Second Suite Registration

What to know, from the official pages named on each card. We last checked them on October 29, 2026.

Aurora property tax: late charges that cannot be waived, and backdated supplementary bills

The 2026 due dates on the Town's page are July 21 and September 22. The interim bill is based on 50 per cent of last year's annualized taxes, and the final bill is issued in June or July. A 1.25% charge is added on the first day of the month after default and on the first day of each later month, and council and staff cannot waive it. The Town offers an 11-month plan, an instalment plan and an arrears plan, and it does not accept cash at its facilities. A supplementary bill for a pool, deck, addition or new home is backdated to the occupancy or completion date, and MPAC may take up to three years to assess the change.

Short-term rentals in Aurora need a one-year licence

Anyone who rents a property for 28 days or less must hold a Short-Term Rental licence under By-law 6426-22, which Council passed on June 28, 2022. The licence lasts one year and lets you rent the entire home or up to three bedrooms, with a maximum of six guests at any one time and one off-street parking space for each bedroom used. You need a permitted use letter from the Building Department, a certificate of insurance endorsed for short-term rentals, a code of conduct form signed by every owner, and a by-law officer inspection. A licence can be suspended or revoked if demerit points exceed 14.

Second suites in Aurora must be registered with Building Services

Zoning By-law 6000-17 permits second suites in detached, semi-detached and link houses, subject to its provisions. Both existing and new two-unit houses must be registered with the Building Services Division, and the work needs a Change of Use Permit or Building Permit and an Electrical Safety Authority inspection. A house that existed on or before November 16, 1995 is grandfathered but must still meet the Ontario Fire Code, which Central York Fire Services checks. If you rent the suite, the income belongs on your income tax return, and we can help you report it.
