East Gwillimbury property tax: interim and final instalments, and supplementary bills

The Town's 2026 final bill was due in two instalments, on August 27 and October 29. Interim bills are due on the last business day of February and April and are calculated as 50% of the previous year's taxes. Unpaid taxes incur 1.25% interest per month from the first day of default. The Town offers a 10-month plan from February to November on the 15th, an instalment plan and an arrears plan. A supplementary bill for new construction or improvements not yet assessed by MPAC can cover the current year plus up to two earlier years, and it is due in two instalments about a month apart.

New homes and accessory apartments in East Gwillimbury

The Town says all accessory apartments must be registered and inspected. It also warns that MPAC can take up to 36 months to assess a new home, so supplementary tax bills may arrive up to three years after you buy, and the Town may offer a payment schedule. Contact the Town before you landscape, fence or build a shed, deck or pool, because a pool permit needs the builder's consent until the Town assumes the subdivision and a driveway expansion needs approval from Development Engineering. If you rent an accessory apartment, the income belongs on your tax return, and we can help you report it.
