Tax Accountant in Caledon: File Your Taxes Online

Caledon clients can file their taxes with us online: you send your slips, we prepare the return, you review and approve it, and we e-file it with the CRA, with no office visit. We do not have an office in Caledon; you can meet us at our Head Office on Danforth Avenue in Toronto if you prefer. The Town of Caledon licenses short-term rentals, requires additional residential units to be registered and bills property tax on four dates a year, so this page sets out the points that matter to owners.

Prefer to meet in person? You can visit our Head Office (Toronto). See our locations

Caledon Property Tax, Short-Term Rental Licence and Additional Residential Units

What to know, from the official pages named on each card. We last checked them on October 29, 2026.

Caledon property tax: four instalments on the first Thursday

Caledon's instalments are due on the first Thursday of March, May, July and September, as noted on your bills, and late charges apply even if you do not receive a bill. The Town offers a 10-month pre-authorized plan, with withdrawals from January to October on the 1st or 15th, and a 4-month plan that follows the regular due dates. To join, you must have no outstanding taxes and not pay through your mortgage. You can pay online, by phone or at your bank, by cheque, through your mortgage company, or by cash or debit at the Service Caledon counter at Town Hall. The Town asks you not to send cash by mail or leave it in the night deposit box.

Short-term rentals in Caledon need a licence

If you provide a short-term rental in Caledon, you need a licence. The Town defines it as a home rented for fewer than 28 days, up to 180 nights a year, that is the renter's primary residence. A corporation-owned property cannot receive a short-term rental licence, the rental and the operator's primary residence must be the same, and no owner may have more than one short-term rental. Hotels, motels, group homes and student housing that went through site plan approval are exempt. Every licensee and property is subject to a random inspection, and the Town can issue warnings, orders, fines and demerit points. Rental income also belongs on your income tax return.

Additional residential units in Caledon must be registered

Homeowners with an additional residential unit (ARU) on their property must register it with the Town, whether or not it is rented, and the rule covers both new and existing units. You may occupy or rent the unit once final occupancy has been issued and the ARU is licensed, and the Town warns of fines and other risks for work done without a building permit. Section 4 of Zoning By-law 2006-50 sets how many units are allowed, and the pre-approved detached ARU plans are available only for one-bedroom and studio units. We can help you report any rental income from the unit.
