Ajax accountants and remote tax filing

Tax Accountant in Ajax: File Your Taxes Online

Ajax clients can file with us online: you send your slips, we prepare the return, you review and approve it, and we e-file it with the CRA, with no office visit. We do not have an office in Ajax; the closest is our Eglinton Branch on Eglinton Avenue East in Scarborough, if you want to meet in person. The Town of Ajax bills property tax, collects a tax on short-term rentals and rebates charities, so this page sets out the points that matter to owners.

Ajax Property Tax, Municipal Accommodation Tax and Business Permits

What to know, from the official pages named on each card. We last checked them on October 29, 2026.

Ajax property tax: two interim and two final instalments

Ajax mails interim bills in late January, based on 50% of the previous year's annualized taxes, and final bills in late May with the new tax rates and updated MPAC assessments. In 2026 the interim instalments were due February 27 and April 24, and the final ones June 26 and September 25. The Town's pre-authorized payment plan withdraws taxes monthly or four times a year. A 1.25% penalty is added on the first business day of each month until payment is received, and the Town says it cannot be waived.

Running a business in Ajax: taxes, patio permits and charity rebates

The Town of Ajax collects property taxes for the Region of Durham, the Province (education) and the Town itself. A temporary patio permit is valid only from April 1 to October 31, and patios on public property also need proof of insurance. Registered charities with a valid registration number can receive a 40% tax reduction on commercial or industrial property. We can help with your business's books, HST and payroll.

Short-term rentals and hotels: the Municipal Accommodation Tax

Accommodation providers in Ajax, including hotels, motels, bed and breakfasts and short-term rentals, must collect and remit the Town's Municipal Accommodation Tax under By-law 09-2025, and the Town's business page covers registration and remittance for it. Rental income also belongs on your income tax return, and we can help you report it alongside the tax you collect.
